28 or more hours later and I still cannot login to secondlife and I cannot post to the forums either. Thats why I'm posting here in the vain hope that someone can help.
I'm running two linux machines, kubuntu 6.10 and sled 10, I've tried from both machines with the firstlook and standard viewers. My isp says the network is fine and all other net activities are ok too. When trying the SL Viewer it stops at the connecting dialog saying wait. After 5 minutes a dialog explaining that: Unable to connect to secondLife Despite our best efforts, something has gone wrong. Please check the (website) for status or announcements to see if there is a known problem. Seems like it sort of gets a response but gives up. The website is very flaky. Some pages come up some don't. I get a save file as instead of pages loading too, in firefox and konqueror. What am I to do? I can't post at the SL forums. Sometime the editor come up but wont post. But it did once. HELLP!!! |

Ok, next morning I try to logon with the client. A dialog tells me to download a 'new' client. Well, that must be connected, sort of.
The website is fucked. The only web service I cannot access. I sent a "Broken Website" email to support@secondlife.com, couldnt access contact page if that is wrong. Got to the download page after 5 or 6 tries. The linux file will not download and times out. Just says "done" Getting 503 errors on site (service unnavailable) WTFFFF I am now hanging by a thread, this one. Anybody reading this? Got any answers or suggestions? |

Have you cleared your browsers memory and disk caches? Have you tried alternate browsers?
I suggest that you post your questions at the other resident run sites like sluniverse, sli-forums, and secondcitizen. Have you sent email not only to support@secondlife.com but also to individual linden staff at TheirFirstNaem@lindenlab.com ? Have you called the toll free support number? Have you checked to see if you have a firewall problem or if you might need to adjust your router settings to allow both udp and http access and that the proper ports are set for use by SL? Have you done a complete uninstall of all versions of SL before reinstalling SL?

Yes Suze , did those things, bar, overseas phone calls and more forums.
However, after my first email to support, things improved, could log on to SL. Then pages began to load. By the end of the day all is good with the (2nd) world. ('cept say for gigantic lag) It was not my end. It was a SL problem, I beleive, but will never know now. Last edited by kornscope; 02-01-2007 at 10:44 PM. |
