Default Insider trading?

I'd like to see some confirmation of something I heard around the SL community -- that is, that prior to their announced price increase for sims, a select few major landowners were given advance knowledge which enabled them to purchase existing sims at the old rate and take advantage of their insider knowledge.

If true, and I don't expect the Lindens to ever admit it, it smacks of a certain conspiracy plot by a certain well-known shit disturber. Only this time she would be right. If true, it would be very disheartening and would cast the Lindens in a new light as even more disconnected from the subscriber base and dishonest about their intent.

But first can we have a witness?

Given that Prok was able to reveal the information before Linden Labs made it public themselves, I think it does indicate that there were some people who were told ahead of time. My question would be why? What was the reason for revealing it to only a few people first? Who were these few people? How long did they have this information and what were they allowed to do with it?

The fact that the rumour came out considerably before the official announcement, and that the rumour was based on information given by Lindens to certain selected individuals, says to me - yes, there was a degree of insider trading.

Of course, the land store was down, and now people have a chance to buy old sims which are grandfathered until they run out, but before then, people in the know would have been able to concentrate on buying out existing sim owners who were thinking of selling islands without the sellers being aware of this new charging regime, and yes, that is bad.

What I love, is how Anshe's hubby totally tried to play it off on the blob, saying that they (ACS) were not informed until Saturday. That may well be (though I doubt it) but what of the lying on the ad for the reasoning behind placing it? Guni says on the blog that after he got the email and told Anshe the news, she immediately took out the ad. The ad which says "due to LL supply problems", or something very close to that.

Actually, I don't mind that Guni made that statement, because it just shores up the perception that Anshe is ruthless and will do or say anything for a buck.

Guni was telling the truth. And no, I'm not going to say how I know.

I'm not affiliated with Guni or Anshe either - they are competitors.
